You really get what you pay for with faucets. Our old faucet was only a couple of years old, and it worked okay, but it was one of the cheaper, store-brand models, and I was never completely happy with it (even though it was a perfectly functional, decent device). The difference between that one and this Kohler is night and day. What I really like about this one:
*It's beautiful. The polished chrome is gorgeous, and the shape of the neck is so elegant (like a swan). Pictures of it don't do it justice.
*My husband said it's the easiest faucet he's ever installed. It took him (and our apprentice son) far longer to remove the old faucet than to put in this one. The old one required maneuvering a wrench in a tight space, but this one is designed to avoid this. My husband frequently complains about products that are poorly designed so that the assembly/installation is needlessly difficult, but he had nothing but good things to say about this Kohler.
*The hose is long enough to easily reach all parts of the sink, and even to fill a bucket placed on the floor in front of the sink. Thanks to a weight you thread onto the hose under the sink, the hose retracts easily and quickly, and the nozzle goes back into the faucet base without any fuss.
*It doesn't splash. My husband was VERY concerned that this faucet would splash a lot since the water is falling from so much higher than our old faucet, but it does not. You do get a small amount of splash back if you run the sprayer from the full height or at full pressure against a nearby object, but it's less than we had with our old one, and it's easily avoided by adjusting the pressure.
*The pressure is easily adjusted. With our old faucet, it was difficult to adjust the lever to a medium or low flow; it was pretty much either full force or off.
*The buttons on the nozzle make it very easy to switch between the sprayer and the regular flow, plus there is an unexpected "pause" button which stops the flow entirely as long as you keep it depressed.
*The faucet is very heavy and sturdy; it's clearly high quality.
I can't think of any real drawbacks to this faucet, except that it's so classy, you might find yourself wanting to upgrade the rest of your kitchen (our sink looks a little dull and inadequate now, compared to the Kohler, and shouldn't we really get better countertops?). Note that this particular model does not come with the soap dispenser; you'll have to buy that separately (and we certainly will).
In summary, you can't go wrong with this faucet.
