I find it to be a quality item. Sure one can take a big step up and get a premium unit for a hundred dollars but that's a little rich for my blood. This one matches the quality of my sink and works just fine and was easy to install. Make sure you have some plumber's putty on hand to do the job correctly.
I had no issue with the basket. Push it into the sink and it's closed. Lift it straight up about a quarter inch and it's open. I don't see the problem. I don't know how long the stubby rubber fingers at the bottom of the strainer will last, but even if I have to buy a new basket in the near future this item is still a bargain.
The rim around the drain is very bright shiny chrome as is the tail piece. My sink is brushed stainless so it's not exactly a match. However, no one is going to notice and one could even accept the notion that it looks fine like it is. I know that I have.
